This year, a historic milestone is proudly celebrated — the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Metre Convention and the founding of the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM). For a century and a half, the BIPM has stood at the heart of international metrology, fostering scientific collaboration, promoting accuracy in measurement, and ensuring global uniformity in units of measurement.

The theme of World Metrology Day 2025, “Measurements for all times, for all people,” reminds us of the vital role metrology plays in every aspect of our lives — from technology and trade to health, climate science, and safety. It highlights the enduring value of precise, reliable measurement in an ever-changing world.
