From September 28 to October 2, 2026, the annual General Assembly of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was held in Paris, bringing together representatives of more than 170 ISO member countries.
The delegation of the National Body for Standardization and Metrology of the Republic of Armenia also participated in the General Assembly, headed by Acting Director Hayk Zeynalyan.
Alongside discussions of strategic and financial reports on the agenda, the following events were held:
the 60th session of the ISO Committee on Developing Country Matters;
voting on new candidate countries for membership in Groups 2, 3 and 4 of the ISO Council;
panel discussions on the opportunities for applying digital platforms and artificial intelligence in the standardization processes of member countries;
forums of specific groups of countries within the regional standardization community.
A key theme of ISO Week was strengthening trust in a changing world. This was clearly reflected at the General Assembly through the adoption of the Paris Declaration. The document reaffirms ISO’s commitment to climate adaptation, ecosystem resilience, and the protection of nature.
The Declaration also sets out how international standards can translate this commitment into practical action. By bringing together scientific expertise and human experience through trusted standards, it provides communities, businesses, and policymakers with a common pathway for responding to change.
